When you're a hot mess mama, you may get into a lot of negative self talk, blaming yourself and others and more nonsense of that nature. All the while still managing to bring joy to your children's lives. Yet, it takes being grounded in community and the Word to asseverate this mom life. Otherwise, you're a ticking time bomb that will eventually implode. Been there. Done that.

So, I present to you my favorite scriptures that build me up and reassure me when... it's been weeks on months without substantial income, or I'm racked with guilt over losing my temper AGAIN or I'm feeling overwhelmed for any of the thousands of things mom hood consists of. Other times, the scriptures give me necessary reality checks and reminders. Because too often the battle is with your own flesh.
The Word of God is my weapon against... myself, sometimes!
"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 (Worry)
"For whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and He knows everything." John 3:20 (Shame)
"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." Corinthians 10:5 (Self-doubt)
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you." Isaiah 60:1 (Perseverance)
"Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good."
1 Corinthians 12:7 (Seeking Purpose)
"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." Psalm 51:10 (Motives & Heart checks)
"When my father and mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up." Psalms 27:10 (Abandonment, Loneliness)
"And let us not grow weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9 (Perseverance)
"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them." 1 John 4:16 (Gracious Living)
"If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the tress their fruit." Leviticus 26:3 (Perseverance, Obedience)
"Not one of all the Lord's good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled."
Joshua 21:45 (Faith)
"Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring. Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider and not your own lips." Proverbs 27:1-2 (Humility)
These scriptures are the lamp unto my feet that guide me along the path. For the times I am pressed by the world and the times I am influenced by my flesh. I need these scriptures to stay the course and not fall into a depressive state or not to give into various temptations. In recent weeks, these have been the only words that have kept me with my head above water.
The Word of God lives and breaths life into its readers. Let these scriptures encourage you today. Write them down. Post them to your mirrors and doorways. Let them light your path.
Until the next read. Later loves. xoxo
